Frequently asked questions
Why should I come along?
It's a fun bonding opportunity with your family and friends!
What do I receive at the end?
By the end of the workshop, you will have your own personalised handmade gingerbread house that you get to assemble yourself. You will have all the pieces needed to make and decorate your house. One of the volunteers will help wrap your completed house ready for you to take home.
Will I like the taste of the gingerbread?
The gingerbread has been selected from a Blue Mountains baked range, using high quality, all natural ingredients. Rest assured, our Gingerbread House organising team have also sampled the great tasting product.
The gingerbread house is being made in summer - will the icing fall off or melt?
No, the icing will not melt at any temperature below 15°C.
Can I bring my own tools and decorations?
Of course! While we will be providing an assortment of lollies for decorating, you are more than welcome to bring anything else to add to your creation (such as specific lollies or particular decorating tools).
Will my gingerbread house spoil if I want to display it and wait until after Christmas to eat it?
No, your gingerbread house itself has a shelf life of six months if stored airtight. You can eat your gingerbread house after Christmas.
I can't wait until after Christmas - can I eat my gingerbread house straight away?
Yes, of course! There is no need to display your beautiful creation - after all, it is tasty!
What is the size of the gingerbread house I am getting?
Dimensions of the completed house are 15cm x 12cm x 16cm.
People in my family have allergies - will gingerbread be suitable for them?
The gingerbread house is completely egg-free, with egg-free icing. However, please be aware of the following:
Allergen information for wheat flour gingerbread: Contains gluten, dairy and soy
Allergen information for various lollies used (this is not exclusive): May contain, or has been packed on a line that contains gluten, barley, sulphite, peanuts and tree nuts. Ingredient sheets will be displayed on the day for all provided lollies.
